Edmonds Community Centre and Fred Randall Pool

To ensure that the Edmonds Community Centre and Fred Randall Pool met the neighborhood’s diverse demographics requirements, the facility’s design began with a large public engagement effort that included all essential stakeholders. The faculty is responsive to a wide range of user requirements. They have an aquatics facility, childminding and childcare, a fitness center, gymnasium, lounge, multipurpose space, playground, elderly and youth center, and various other services and amenities that integrate social, recreational, and cultural aspects.

 The urban and low-rise context of a residential street to the south and a park setting to the north inform the facility’s architecture. This creates a dynamic transition between the calm and restrained Edmonds Street area and the more expressive urban area to the north.

 An atrium-style lobby creates a pleasant space for staff, patrons, and visitors by providing transparency and links between major aspects of the institution.

Fred Randall Pool and waterslide

The center has a beautiful 6-lane swimming pool, a leisure pool with various water features, two waterslides, a steam room, and a sauna.

Pool Access

There is Zero entry provided to the children’s leisure pool. Via portable lift, access to the adult leisure pool and the lazy river is also provided. The hot tub has zero-entry access.

 Access to the larger active swimming pool is provided via a built-in lift. One waterproof wheelchair is also available.

Parking

There are multiple designated parking stalls provided in the underground parking lot and the surface parking lots to the east and west of the Centre. Some street parking is also available.

Entry/Interior Access

Automatic entrance doors are provided at both main entrances to the building.

There are also two designated accessible changing and shower rooms available, equipped with an overhead lift system.

Washrooms

Accessible washroom stalls are available in each men’s and women’s washroom. There is also one stand-alone accessible universal washroom on both floors (first and second) of the Centre.

In the Universal Change Room area of the Pool, there are three accessible/family–style washrooms.

 Edmonds Youth Lounge is also part of the Community Centre. An external ramp provides direct access from the plaza on the north side of the Community Centre.
